Repeaters

Three repeaters in the Houston area are affiliated with NARS. Two repeaters are located in the Galleria area, and a third satellite repeater is located in the Cypress area. The repeaters cover western Houston from Sugarland in the south to the Tomball-Huffsmith area in the north.

  • W5NC - 2M 146.660 -600 kHz PL 141.3  Located in the Galleria area (signs W5NC/R)

  • W5NC - 2M 146.660 -600 kHz PL 100.0  Located in the Cypress area (signs W5NC/R/KLEIN)

  • W5NC - 70cm 444.375 +5 mHz PL 103.5 Located in the Galleria area (signs W5NC/R)

The following members are responsible for the operation and maintenance of our repeaters:

Weekly VHF Net

Neal, N5EN, conducts a moderated Q&A net on Wednesday evenings at 8:00 P.M. We welcome others who would like to take a turn a net control. We encourage all licensed hams to participate, whether you are a NARS member or not. This is the place to get some on-air operating experience, ask questions, and learn. The nets are either on the club repeater, W5NC on 146.660,  -600 khz offset, PL 141.3 (Galleria ares) or PL100 (Cypress area). Occasionally we meet on the K5WH repeater on 146.76, -600 offset, PL 103.5. The net frequency is announced prior to the net on the NARS reflector on mailman.qth.net.

Email Reflector

There is an active email reflector on mailman.qth.net. Signup is very easy, and the reflector is quite active. We coordinate club events and activities there, as well as ham radio information and chatter of interest to the community.

Board Meetings

 

The Board of Directors meet at Klein Fire Department Administration Building, 16810 Squyres Rd., Klein, TX 77379. The meeting will be called to order at 6:00 P.M. on the third Friday of each month. This is just prior to the monthly general membership meeting. All NARS members are invited to attend this meeting as observers. If you have material you would like the Board to consider or items you would like to present to the Board, please This email address is being protected from spambots. In addition to a more central location, the new meeting place has plenty of parking space. Please observe any parking signs and be careful not to block emergency vehicle paths. See the map below for directions to the new meeting location.
